The All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC) concluded on Saturday with mesmerising performances of folk singers from all corners of Pakistan at open theatre Bagh-e-Jinnah.
Folk singers enthralled audience by their performances. Traditional attendees of the APMC were also present on the last day. Prizes, folk music, classic music and semi classic music were presented before the audience.
Ayesha, a visitor, expressed that the musical presentation performed at open theatre kept alive the old memories, when seven or eight years back she attended the APMC. It truly reflects the culture of this very city, she added.
Folk singer Muhammad Bashir Baloch from Quetta told Daily Times, “Folk singing can only sing with your heart as it contains the lyrical poetry of the Sufi poets, not only in Lahore but I performed all over the Pakistan.”
Veteran folk singer performed his classic musical performance named “Guldasta” comprising upon all four languages in front of audience. Muhammad Bashir, two times Presidential Award winner, received award in SAARC Music Summit held in Sakarprian, Islamabad in which Indian, Bangladesh and Sri Lankan singers were in competition.
The APMC was organised at Bagh-e-Jinnah in collaboration with the Punjab Arts Council. APMC General Secretary Dr Ghazala Irfan moderated the event while APMC President Dr Syeda Nilofar Mehdi was also present to introduce the singers to the audience.
Bilal, another visitor, told Daily Times, “More music events like this should be organised in the city to entertain the citizens.”
