Pottery making: Lok Virsa attracts special children

The ongoing pottery training program with no registration charges at the Lok Virsa is attracting large number of special children ranging from 6-14 years.

Special children include Tayyaba Rasool, Maham, Sana, Aneela, Sidra, Umeed-e-Sehr, Aqsa, Kausar, Laila and Saadia Khan from National Special Education Centre, Special Education Directorate, Islamabad have also joined the training classes, says a press release issued here on Thursday.

Apart from these special children, 50 other students of the same age group from various schools of Rawalpindi/Islamabad including Federal Directorate of Education and Pakistan Bait ul Mal administered schools are also participating regularly and learning craft making techniques with a keen interest.

Master trainers Sardar Ali from Khyber Pakhtunkwa, Faqir Muhammad from Halla, Sindh, Naveed Ahmad from Multan and Niaz Ahmad from Saidpur village, Islamabad are training special Childs.

According to Lok Virsa sources, Sunday, 11th October 2015 is reserved for adults from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. However, children will also be entertained on Friday in view of their growing interest in the craft field.

Dr. Fouzia Saeed Executive Director Lok Virsa said, “Our program craft of the month offers coaching for children in various crafts, in an informal but intense environment at the heritage Museum. On special request from the adults we are keeping Sunday for them to have a full experience with several potters who are there with enough raw material for them to experiment with clay”.
