The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf’s (PTI) stance in the party fund corruption case, a private news channel has reported.

A four-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan heard the petition filed by former PTI information secretary Akbar S Babar.

CEC Khan said in the verdict that the Election Commission can hear the petitions regarding matters pertaining to the funds of any political party and the ECP also has the authority to investigate allegations over party funds.

The ECP said that the hearing of the case will be formally held from October 10.

Babar said that he accepts the challenge of PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar for filing petition in US court, adding that now a case of illegal funding of PTI will also be filed in US.
