Six dead, 33 hurt in Punjab road accidents

At least six people including a minor died and 33 others were injured in separate road accidents on Wednesday.

Rescue sources said that in Iqbal Nagar area of Mian Channu three people died and another sustained injuries after a collision between two motorcycles.

In another incident, police said that a Lahore-bound passenger bus coming from Sadiqabad overturned as one of its tyres burst near Khanewal Chowk in district Vehari. Two people died in the accident while 32 others sustained injuries.

A speeding passenger bus hit an auto-rickshaw carrying children to school Near Industrial Estate II in Gujranwala. Seven-year-old Faizan died in the accident while Ali, seven, and eight-year-old Shumaila sustained severe injuries. A protest demonstration was held against the incident as protestors blocked Rawalpindi Road. Protestors dispersed as the bus driver was arrested.
