Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain on Tuesday inaugurated the Defence Export Promotion Organization Display Centre in a gathering of important dignitaries and ambassadors of different countries held at DEPO Centre Islamabad.
According a press release, Rana Tanveer Hussain addressed the audience and commended the hard work put in by the officers and staff of Defence Export Promotion Organization who contributed to the designing and construction of a state of the art DEPO display Centre.
He said that the defence equipment and products being displayed were testament to decades of hard work of the workers, engineers and leadership of those who led the various enterprises in the country and was just the beginning of a new era for Pakistan.
“Pakistan needs to expand and broaden the contours of its production units and industry for competing in the global market,” he said.
The minister further said that our defence industry with the cooperation of friendly countries had always met the needs of our armed forces but now, time for expanding the horizons of defence industry had come, as Pakistan had the surplus capacity in production.
He further said that challenges, security threats and opportunities were being presented every day, adding that technology enabled states to meet these security needs and confront challenges posed by state and non-state actors.
