A Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate for local bodies (LB) elections was allegedly murdered on Tuesday – four days ahead of the by-election in the NA-122 constituency.
According to the victim’s uncle, Mian Muhammad Akbar from UC-84 was receiving threats from PML-N’s candidate Mian Naeem. He said Akbar was subjected to torture before being killed and his face was wrapped in a polythene sheet when his body was recovered from the canal.
Aleem Khan, PTI’s candidate in the NA-122 constituency, alleged that Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was behind the murder.
Talking to Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami on his talk show DNA on Channel 24, Aleem alleged that his party workers were being harassed by the ruling party.
Earlier in the same programme, PML-N’s Sadiq dismissed the allegations, saying he had no hand in the murder of the PTI candidate.
