Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved in principle the establishment of an Agricultural Research Endowment Fund for enhancing agriculture research to maximise agricultural production.
He was chairing a meeting on issues faced by the agricultural sector and facilitation to farmers on Tuesday. He noted that the farmer community throughout the country is suffering due to non-implementation of the Kissan package.
He directed the Attorney General of Pakistan to file a petition in Supreme Court against the suspension of certain provisions that facilitate farmers in the Kissan package after the Election Commission’s decision.
The prime minister said that the Kissan package is for the farmers of the entire country and is not specific to any region. He said the government is working to protect farmers’ rights without any political or regional bias.
