Possible terror bid foiled, 10 including target killers detained

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Monday foiled a terror bid by defusing a bomb in Orangi Town Karachi.

According to details, unidentified men escaped after planting a bomb outside a hotel. Police and BDS officials reached the spot and defused the bomb.

SSP West stated that no explosive material was found in the bomb that was placed only to spread terror in the area. However, BDS officials said that a 1-kg bomb was attached to a time device and could have destroyed area up to 100 metres on explosion.

Meanwhile, police arrested at least 10 suspects including two target killers and a woman in Karachi. The law-enforcement agencies carried out a raid in Baloch Colony and detained two suspects including a woman who were involved in fund-raising for banned outfits.

The law-enforcement agencies shifted them to an unknown place and started the investigation.

Police also nabbed two dacoits after a shootout in Mobeena Town, while two target killers Shakeel and Fahad were detained during a raid conducted in Manghopir area.

Four suspects Kashif, Danish, Ahmad Sharif and Saqib were arrested by the police after an encounter in Orangi Pakistan Bazar. The accused are said to be involved in dozens of incidents of murder, attempted murder and dacoity.
