It was a pleasant surprise to hear the news of KBD construction on a TV channel yesterday. It appears truth has finally dawned on KBD. It is however regretted that no newspaper duly reported on 03-10-2015 such momentous news spelling life for our economy. An issue which was simmering since four decades has been hopefully solved during the tenure of PML-N while PTI has been neglecting it so far. One wonders as to why PTI chairman has allowed PML-N to steal the show while PTI has been busy in agitational politics and PPP has become defensive in its policies. Such an important news has been allowed to go by the wayside as if it was a minor issue while land procurement problem for Bhasha dam has been highlighted. There was no such problem in KBD case as it lies in a non-disputed area. The national press which does not miss reporting even a dog being trampled under a bus has chosen to keep mum over KBD issue which defines the destiny of Pakistan.
If we swim or sink, it would be because of KBD or lack of it. The national press ought to set its priorities right and take notice of such vital news like the efforts of government to go ahead with KBD and devise a formula that satisfies all stakeholders. The nation ought to praise this step in the right direction after a long time.
