Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that the Kala Bagh dam issue is a matter of life and death for Pakhtuns and it will not be acceptable at any cost.
According to press statement issued on Sunday, he said that federal government was making frustrated efforts to embark on political adventurism by indulging in controversial issues like Kala Bagh dam.
He further said that the assemblies of three provinces had already passed resolutions against this controversial project therefore sticking to such an issue would be harmful for the federation.
Aftab Sherpao contended that since the smaller federating units had shown reservations over the Kala Bagh dam issue hence stubbornness of the PML-N government on this project would generate hatred and despair among the people.
QWP chief said that the government had ignored the Munda dam project which was essential for the socio-economic development. He said that negligible funds had been earmarked in PSDP for the Munda dam which showed the disinterest on the part of the government.
He demanded that handsome funds should be allocated for this project and it should be given top priority. He added that this project would not only generate power but it would also provide water reservoir and mitigate the threats of floods.
