- Babar claims report of audit of party funds conducted in 2011 has been kept secret
- Daniyal Aziz says ECP should keep an eye on foreign funding of political parties
Founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Akbar S. Babar and Jewish Funder Network have revealed that the PTI was getting funds from Indian and Jewish lobby.
According to documents submitted by Akbar S. Babar in Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and a report of Jewish Funding Directory, foreigners including US based Indian national Android Sanjha and American Jew Barry C. Schneps were funding PTI for lobbying in their favour and interests.
Talking to a private TV channel, Akbar S. Babar claimed that on November 14, 2014 a case was registered against the PTI in which illegal funding to the party was pointed out and in 2011 an audit regarding illegal funding to party was also held but its report was not made public. He claimed that PTI Chairman Imran was also asked for audit of foreign funding to the party but he refused.
Akbar S. Babar said that during hearing of their petition in ECP, the PTI lawyer raised question that the Commission does not have the mandate to hear the petition which was rejected by ECP. He alleged that in audit report of PTI the case has not even been mentioned, neither the report contains information about foreign funding. He said that in May, PTI nominated Anwar Mansoor Khan as its new lawyer in the case.
To a question, he said that on October 8, their petition against Imran Khan and PTI will be decided and we hope that judges will give verdict on merit.
Akbar S. Babar said that despite they exposed the violation of merit in distribution of party tickets, PTI chief hasn’t directed for any action in this regard.
PTI leader Ali Muhammad commenting over the issue said that he agrees that the issue should be investigated.
PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz said that it was the responsibility of the ECP to keep an eye on foreign funding of political parties and to stop and seize such funds.
