The business community engaged with pottery industry has appealed to the government to take steps for its survival.
Pasrur is famous for producing pottery which is eminent for clay made cooking pots like “handya” (cauldron) which is still being used for cooking in big hotels and restaurants especially in homes.
According to a survey conducted by APP while visiting Pasrur, the pottery industry is famous and 100-year-old-one but its advancement and growth could not be improved.
A large number of small pottery units were functioning on roadsides of Pasrur and most of vendors were working at their homes for earning livelihood. It was observed that there was a great need of establishment of ‘Mini Industrial Estate’ in the city and provision of all basic facilities under one roof should be ensured to businessmen engaged with the industry.
Besides, special steps should also be taken for molding the pottery industry on modern and scientific lines because at present most of very small pottery units were working with traditional techniques. The government departments concerned should formulate a special programme for the development of old industries.
The business community engaged with pottery industry was fully capable of improving the standard and quality of its pottery manufacturing in accordance with international standard.
