- PML-N leader slams PTI chief for fielding land-grabber Aleem against Sadiq
Top Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz said on Friday it would be better if Imran Khan displays courage and contests the by-poll against Ayaz Sadiq on October 11, instead of joking with the nation by nominating such a person who has links with land grabbers and had got written off corrupted amount through plea bargain from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Interacting with the media after his meeting with union councils’ coordinators in the constituency of NA-122, Shehbaz said the people of this constituency and Lahore loved Nawaz Sharif and Ayaz Sadiq would win the election on October 11 with more votes than he did the previous time.
Shehbaz came down hard on Jahangir Tareen, and said the PTI leader had got written off loans of crores of rupees during the Musharraf era. He said proofs were available against Tareen and Aleem Khan. He said the people’s court would give the best decision in the by-election.
To a question, Shehbaz said the incumbent government had taken solid steps for putting the country on the road of progress and prosperity, and for making Karachi a haven of peace by not bowing to any sort of pressure.
He said that “winning election is not our target but strengthening the country at internal and external fronts is”. The PTI, he added, was the reason behind the delay in bringing the investment of Rs 46 billion to Pakistan when it launched a civil disobedience movement and wasted precious time of the country and the nation for 126 days.
Shehbaz said that now the price of oil was at the lowest level and the foreign exchange reserves had reached Rs 20 billion. He said that power projects in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Bhikhi were under completion for overcoming energy crisis. About the security situation, he said terrorism was being eliminated through the operation Zarb-e-Azb.
About Prime Minister Sharif’s address in the United Nations, Shehbaz said he defended the Kashmir issue in an excellent and comprehensive address upon which the entire nation deserved congratulation.
