Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that work should be carried out on a war-footing for eradication of dengue throughout the Punjab, including Rawalpindi and every step should be taken for protecting people from the dengue virus.

The chief minister issued these directions while addressing a video conference at the Civil Secretariat and Rawalpindi Commissioner Office.

Sharif said that special attention should be paid to indoor surveillance, and effective monitoring of all steps taken for dengue eradication should be carried out. He said that effective measures were important for controlling dengue virus in Rawalpindi.

The chief minister remarked that had the prescribed SOPs been fully implemented in Rawalpindi, the situation would have been otherwise. He warned that no laxity or negligence would be tolerated.

Sharif stressed the need for working town emergency response committees in an effective manner, and said institutions and departments concerned should discharge their duties in a coordinated manner.
