The Peshawar district government’s first session was lost to an uproar by the participants.

Opposition members tore copies of the budget and shouted slogans outside district council hall and protested there. Opposition members returned to hall after the District Nazim requested them to do so.

The non-developmental budget meeting of Peshawar district government started under chairmanship of Syed Qasam Ali Shah when opposition members comprising Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat-e-Ulema Fazl (JUI-F) and Rah-e-Haq party began protesting even before the meeting started.

Opposition members said that they had not been taken into confidence in the preparation of budget. Members of government chanted ‘Go Nawaz Go’ in retaliation to opposition’s chants of ‘Go Khattak Go’.
