An anti-corruption team on Friday raided the Civil Hospital Karachi’s (CHK) administration block and seized five-year record of medicines purchase.

Source at the CHK said the team conducted a raid on the hospital and seized the five year record of medicines purchase. The team was headed by Deputy Director Tariq Qureshi and Judicial Magistrate Nadeem Jaffari.

The 12-member team locked the administration block for several hours and stopped the staff and other people from going in and out. The team members investigated about the purchase of medicines and alleged embezzlement conducted in purchase of drugs in the last five years in the hospital.

The high-ups of hospital and staff posted in Pharmacy Department ran away from the institution following the news of the raid. Moreover, investigation is still underway by the authorities.

It may be mentioned that CHK Medical Superintendent Prof Saeed Ahmed Qureshi is on leave and is currently on a visit to a foreign country.

Tariq Qureshi of the Anti-Corruption Department said the team conducted the raid on the receipt of information about mismanagement and irregularities. He said the raid was conducted on the information gathered through various sources.
