The Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed (SKBZ) College organised All-Pakistan Bilingual Declamation contest in Defence area on Friday.
DHA Director Education Brig (r) Sardar Muhammad was the chief guest of the function.
Forty-four students from 24 elite educational institutions of the metropolis and three outstation schools/colleges participated in the declamation contest.
The students made impressive and thought-provoking speeches both in English and Urdu on different contemporary topics of interest.
Brig (r) Sardar Muhammad appreciated the quality and standard of speeches made by the students and said these reflected the intellectual curiosity, in-depth study and meticulous preparation of students. He said public speaking and declamation contest helped in building the confidence, personality and outlook of students.
Earlier in his welcome address, Brig (r) Mirza Khawar Baig, the college principal, said that the college provided intellectually vibrant and academically sound learning environment to develop all-round confident personalities of students and prepare them to face the challenges of life boldly and successfully.
In English declamation contest, Shajeel Khalid of St Michael Convent School grabbed the first position while M Haris Farooq of BVS School bagged second and Syeda Farwa Zaidi of Mama Parsi High School won third position.
In Urdu declamation contest, first position was won by SM Daniyal of Habib Public School. Shahid Zaman of Danish School (Boys) got second position while Hasan Ahmed of BVS School was declared third.
The coveted running trophy was won by St Michael’s Convent School. In the end, the chief guest distributed certificates and shields to the participants/winners of the declamation contest.
