The spokesperson for the Punjab government on Thursday came down hard on Imran Khan for trying to undermine the Pakistan-China friendship by criticising the CPEC projects, and asked the cricketer-turned-politician to stop speaking in the tone of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a news conference, Zaeem Hussain Qadri advised Khan to refrain from damaging provincial harmony and sowing seeds of hatred among the provinces. He remarked that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief was indulging in enmity to the country as he was seeing the end of his politics.
Qadri said Khan was fully aware of the fact that if 70 per cent of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects were completed then he would find no candidate for contesting the 2018 elections. He alleged that Khan had staged a sit-in in Islamabad to hinder the country’s development.
The official was of the view that Imran Khan had, through the Election Commission of Pakistan, deprived the farming community of the relief package under which distribution of money was to be started from October 1. He held Khan responsible for creating hindrance in implementation of the package.
Qadri appealed to the people not to pay heed to Khan, and asked him to stop humiliating people who were benefiting from public welfare projects. He said more than 0.15 people were benefiting from the Metro Bus project on a daily basis and that the Transparency International had also declared it a fair project. He said even the opponents of Shehbaz Sharif could not raise a finger against its transparency.
He said more than one hundred hydro-power projects could be set up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but Imran Khan could not start even a single project. He said the people were fully aware of political juggleries of the PTI.
About the UN peacekeeping summit, Qadri said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had highlighted the Kashmir issue boldly during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
