Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) faced a major blow as 32 of its ‘senior members’ defected to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan welcomed the new-comers and said that it revealed trust of the political leaders in his party which was striving for inborn rights of the citizens.
Campaign for re-elections in the NA-122 is in full swing as both PML-N and PTI are putting in every effort to gain an advantage. Sunni Tehreek has announced its support for the ruling party in the constituency as PTI gained support of 32 disgruntled supporters of PML-N.
Chairman PTI Imran Khan visited Islamia Park, Lahore, as a part of the campaign for his candidate Aleem Khan where he welcomed the new-comers who entered the PTI’s fold.
Talking to media on the occasion, Imran Khan said only those who came forward and declared their assets could bring about a change in the country’s fortune. He said he had declared his assets, but could anyone ask how the prime minister ended up owning assets worth Rs 2 billion?
The PTI chief said that after coming into power his party’s government, instead of opening doors of the assemblies for thieves, would put them behind bars. He said that telling lies and indulging in propaganda politics were “old habits of the N-league’s leadership”.
He said that the support of 32 former PML-N workers was a clear proof of trust of politicians and democracy-loving political workers in his party’s leadership.
