The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the submitted assets’ details of legislators, including members of the Senate, National Assembly and four provincial assemblies.
Not surprisingly, many legislators have so far failed to submit their assets’ details despite the lapse of the deadline.
According to reports, 74 senators and 222 MNAs have so far submitted details about their assets to the ECP.
A few days ago the ECP issued the last reminder to parliamentarians to submit their own, spouse’ and dependents’ assets details by September 30.
According to the ECP, 222 members of the National Assembly have so far submitted their assets details, compared to the total strengthen of 342 MNAs. On the other hand, 74 senators have submitted their assets’ details against the total of 104.
As far as the provincial assembles are concerned, 193 members have submitted details of their assets in Punjab, 121 in Sindh, 53 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 38 in Balochistan.
The submission of assets’ details is a mandatory requirement under Section 42A of the Representation of the People Act, 1976, and Section 25A of the Senate (Election) Act, 1975.
