KWSB 188 ‘ghost’ employees sacked

Services of 188 ‘ghost’ Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) employees have been terminated on Wednesday because of long absence from duty without any information.

After the approval from Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, KWSB Managing Director Misbahuddin Fareed sacked 188 employees of different categories from BPS-1 to BPS 17. The absent officers and employees had taken long leaves and did not return to offices.

KWSB spokesperson Nazeer Mateen said the employees were given a show cause notice through different newspapers on July 26, 2015, by the human resource department in which they were asked to respond to the notice within seven days but nobody showed up.

“After completing legal procedure, the MD has sent packing all those employees,” he said.

The dismissed employees include eight sub-engineers, 10 assistant engineers, four computer operators, two foremen, four supervisors, 11 junior clerks, one lab attendant, four security guards, four valve-men, four fitters, one driver, one mechanic, 18 groundsmen, eight watchmen, 11 vice-messengers, 21 helpers, one data assistant, one tracer, five sweepers, 13 line-guards, three electricians, one cleaner, two sub-inspectors, one machine operator, machine attendant and 39 health workers.

The Human resource department of KWSB has issued orders of dismissal and stopped their salaries.
