Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Wednesday that his campaign was about exposing complicity between the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Returning Officers (ROs) and the caretaker government in manipulating the public mandate.

Talking to media after he arrived in Lahore to campaign in NA-122, Khan said that his competition was with Nawaz Sharif, not Ayaz Sadiq, adding that the PML-N was petrified to face PTI, which is why they ran away from NA-154 Lodhran by-elections.

“We will win in NA-122 despite the fact that the umpires are from N-league,” Khan said campaigning for PTI’s candidate in NA-122 Aleem Khan.

“Our tigers are ready, they are aware of the numerous ways that rigging can be done in NA-122 and will stop it,” he said.

He said that PTI will deploy their people at every single polling station in NA-122 so that no one can rig elections.

He further said that there were 53,000 irregularities in 184,000 votes in NA-122 and that these were not simply mistakes, but rigging on massive scale and a planned conspiracy.

“The question is why the ECP has not moved to act against those responsible for the 53,000 irregularities? Clearly, it is because they were complicit,” Khan said.

The PTI chief added that this is the same ECP that the Judicial Commission had declared incompetent.

Imran Khan vowed to fight tooth and nail against the ruling party. He expressed hope that his party would defeat PML-N’s “umpires” in NA-122 by-election.

He said that they wanted an end to corrupt electoral system in the country. Otherwise, corrupt people would continue to return to assemblies for minting money.

He said that PML-N, in collaboration with ECP staff, former chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and justice Ramday indulged in rigging of elections.

The PTI chief demanded that assets of Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Fazlur Rehman be made public.
