The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed an appeal to halt the government from using the state machinery in the upcoming by-polls.
The petition was submitted by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek. The counsel for the petitioner submitted that the government was influencing the by-polls by using the state machinery.
Upon this, Justice Aijazul Hassan remarked that the Election Commission of Pakistan had the authority to take action against this step of the government and the court could not obstruct them.
The court, while directing the petitioner to approach the ECP, dismissed the plea.
