A local landlord and his two wives were shot dead by family members of his second spouse over honour in Dholleywali village on Monday.
Police officials said Mushtaq Ghuman had three daughters from his first wife Sajeela Firdous but his family members wanted him to have a son, building a pressure on him to contract a marriage second.
In the meantime, Ghuman developed illicit relations with Bahawalpur-based Gulnaz and married her afterwards. However Ghuman had another daughter with Gulnaz a year ago. The lady’s parents were annoyed over her love marriage with the landlord and used to issue threats.
On the day of the incident, Gulnaz’s father Tariq, her uncle Zia and nephew Khurram reached Dholleywali from Bahawalpur, stormed into her house and started spraying bullets, killing the landlord, his first wife Firdous and Gulnaz on the spot.
The accused later fled the scene. Local police have registered a triple murder case with no arrest until the filing of this report.
The bodies were shifted to the Daska Civil Hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, in Daska city’s congested Hajipura locality, a 12-year-old boy, Ameer Muaviya, was gunned down over a domestic issue. The body was shifted to the Daska Civil Hospital for autopsy. Police have registered a case are investigating.
