United Nation Development Program (UNDP) has approved the allocation of additional £1 million to scale up support budget to the project Strategic Support Unit (SSU) in FATA.
According to the approved summary, budget for UNDP Program Strategic Support Unit has been revised from £1.5 million to £2.5 million for the fiscal year 2015-16.
SSU will assist the administration of FATA Secretariat to accelerate the efficiency and effectiveness of the departments and will support them in their capacity building with special focus on education, health, economic development and to ensure betterment of tribal people. It will also provide support to effectively implement reconstruction and rehabilitation strategy for TDPs in FATA.
Earlier, in a meeting with the UNDP officials, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmed Khan had stressed the need of additional allocation of funds to ensure the effective implementation of reconstruction and rehabilitation strategy for TDPs in FATA and to accelerate the efficiency and effectiveness of various departments in FATA secretariat.
