Rs 5,000 per acre assistance for affected cultivators: PDMA

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Jawad Akram has said that under the prime minister’s agricultural relief package, the district administrations have started sending the government the data about losses caused to the crops of farmers.

Addressing a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Floods, the PDMA director general said the district administrations had been ordered to immediately send the data to the PDMA office.

After completion of this data, financial assistance of Rs 5000/acre would be given to the affected cultivators, he said, adding this financial assistance would be available to farmers having upto 12.5 acres of land.

He said that more than 400 one window operation centers would be set up in 33 districts for provision of financial assistance to farmers. He further said that officers of the NADRA and Revenue, representatives of banks as well as officers of the district administration would give pay orders to the affected farmers after necessary action and verification.

The official said that publicity would also be made at the local level regarding payment centres in the districts so that farmers did not face any difficulty.

He said that strict action would be taken against the farmers providing wrong information.

PDMA Director Ali Anan Qamar, Information Secretary Momin Agha, Muhamamd Sajjad, Muhammad Ammar, representatives of NADRA and banks, and officers of Revenue and PITB were also present on the occasion.
