Peshawaris enjoy family outings to picnic points on Eid

Hustle and bustle was witnessed in parks and picnic spots of the city as families including men, women and children gathered in large numbers to enjoy festivities on the third day of Eid.

Residents of Peshawar and nearby areas thronged to different parks and recreational spots located in Peshawar, Kohat, Charssada, Nowshera and adjoining areas.

People usually celebrate the first day or two of Eid at home or visiting relatives and friends to exchange Eid greetings, while on the second and third days, they enjoy Bar B Que parties in family get-togethers.

Tatara, Chacha Younis and Shahi Bagh parks in Peshawar attracted large numbers of families and children on the third day of Eid where elaborate arrangements were made for entertainment by the district government.

Sardaryab picnic point on Peshawar-Charsadda Road and Kund Park in Nowshera also attracted visitors. People enjoyed fried fish and other spicy meat items on the banks of Shah Alam, Khayali and Indus rivers.

Situated about 15 kilometers from Peshawar, Sardaryab River picnic point attracted visitors from across the province.

Tourists enjoyed different kinds of fish including Mallhi, Singhara, Sher Mahi, Mahasher, Swati and Rahoo on the banks of the river.

Local musicians and singers entrained visitors in Sardaryab and sang local Pashto songs especially in the evening. The brightly painted boats on river banks that offer trips to tourists for Rs80 to 150, also attracted tourists at Sardaryab.

Khurshid Alam, a visitor told the news agency that he visited Sardaryab on every Eid because the riverside views always gave him a respite from the daily life.

Festivities in Kohat also continued on the third day of Eid where people enjoyed meat dishes in the open at Tanda dam. Built on River Tochi near Kohat city, the Tanda dam attracted a significant number of tourists from Hangu, Karak and Bannu districts who were there for sightseeing and for enjoying Bar B Que in the open.

City’s cinemas also attracted crowds of adoring fans. Five Pashto films were released on Eidul-Azha this year. Long queues waited for hours for their tickets before the shows.

Police made effective security arrangements in parks and cinema houses for tourists and residents. Eid holidays passed peacefully across the province.
