People including women and children thronged to the parks of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad to celebrate Eidul Azha.
After Eid prayers on Friday, the faithful slaughtered cows, goats, rams and sheep to revive the Sunnah of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). The process continued till Sunday, the third day of Eid.
This year, three Eid holidays, Thursday to Saturday were announced by the government.
Having spent the first day of Eid on Friday performing sacrifice of animals and greeting relatives and friends, citizens were seen flocking to parks in the twin cities on the second and third days of Eid.
Girls were seen enjoying the swings while children were screaming on merry-go-rounds. Adults were exuberant to see smiles on the faces of their children. Both children and adults were determined to make the best use of the free time they had before the schools and other institutions opened on Monday.
However, people were also complaining about lack of facilities at the parks and high rates of edibles at canteens and cafeterias.
In the federal capital, Shakarparian and the National Monument were the most frequented spots, while people also visited in their thousands spots such as Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9 park), Rawal lake park, Daman-e-Koh and Faisal Mosque where men, women and children visited and celebrated the Eid.
The rain on the second day of Eid made the weather pleasant in the twin cities and was an added incentive for people to visit parks and other public places.
A large number of people were also seen traveling to Murree Hills on Eid.
Another busy recreational place of Islamabad was the city zoo and the adjacent children park (Japanese park) which attracted a large number of people especially the children.
Parks in Rawalpindi were decorated on the occasion to attract visitors.
Special security arrangements were made outside the parks to ensure safety of the visitors.
