Two children died on Wednesday while three people were injured when roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rains.
Rescue sources said that roof of a dilapidated house located in the village 507 of Mamu Kanjan in Tandlianwala Tehsil of district Faisalabad collapsed after the area received heavy downpour during the previous night.
Two children, a brother and sister, died in the roof collapse while three people sustained injuries.
Rescue personnel in assistance of the local people pulled out the bodies and injured from the debris and shifted them to hospital.
More rain predicted:
Heavy rains in the country including the provincial capital caused the maximum temperature to drop to 28 degrees on Wednesday as more showers were forecast in Punjab during the next 24 hours.
A spokesperson of Met department said that the current weather system was likely to continue, producing more rains with isolated heavy falls in Rawalpindi,Gujranwala and Lahore divisions.
Heavy downpour is predicted in the catchment areas of eastern rivers of Pakistan, generating flood situations in the rivers. Due to intermittent rains there is a risk of landslides along major roads of Hazara division and Kashmir.
The current spell is likely to subside after almost 24 hours.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued flood a warning for people living along rivers and seasonal nullahs in Narowal and Sialkot districts, advising them to shift to safer areas owing to flooded water channels in the region.
According to officials of NDMA, increased flows in these flooded rivers and nullahs could be the result of ongoing fresh spell of heavy rains in Sialkot region and in all the catchment areas in neighbouring Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
