Punjab Police want Rs 50k raise in investigation costs

A meeting was held at central police office Lahore on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Inspector General Police of Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera to review the working of various police departments decided to move a summary to the government regarding a raise in investigation cost of up to Rs 55,000.

The meeting discussed problems being faced by the officers of CTD, Elite, Special Branch, Special Protection Unit, Riverine and border posts, PHP, Traffic, Lahore Police and also formulation of strategy to purchase the new APCs, water cannon and helicopter and change of police uniform.

Punjab IG Mushtaq Sukhera directed the Additional IG training to get help from the Pakistan Army for the advance training of four thousand officials who were inducted in PHP for duties at riverine and border posts. The meeting also decided to finalize the training plan for five thousand officials who will be recruited for special protection unit in Punjab Police shortly.

It was also decided that in future the APCs, Water Cannons and helicopters’ purchase would be made after the approval of the experts of notified technical committees.

The meeting also decided that each district would be provided the force according to the ratio of population and rate of crime of every district.

Computerization and Preparation of inventory of all purchases which were made for Punjab Police, including weapons, equipments, ammunition, vehicles, uniforms etc. was also decided in the meeting.

It was decided in the meeting that the official holidays of all officers/officials would remain cancelled and that they would be on duty during Eidul-Azha. It was also decided that search operations on daily basis would be continued till the last day of the Eid.
