President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have extended heartiest felicitations to the nation and all Muslims across the world on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Azha.

In his Eid message, President Mamnoon said the nation must not forget the invaluable sacrifices of those fighting against terrorism, and should set practical examples of sacrifice in their lives to help resolve the issues facing the country.

“We should not forget our soldiers, brothers and sisters who became immortal in the history by laying down their lives for the country,” he said, observing the country was very close to victory against terrorists.

The president said this auspicious day rejuvenated the dignified sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) who had set an eternal example of obedience and submission to Allah Almighty by offering the sacrifice of his beloved son Hazrat Ismael (AS).

He stressed upon the nation to share the joyous moments of Eid with the poor and those afflicted by calamities, and prayed that may Allah Almighty protect all the people of this motherland and bless them with the bounties of this world and hereafter.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to put a hedge around everyone, make the true essence of Eidul Azha part of their lives and bless Pakistan with peace and prosperity.

In his felicitation message, Prime Minister Sharif urged the nation to rise above personal, sectarian and party interests to get rid of extremist elements, saying, “We should work on converging our spirit of sacrifice towards the unity of the nation and the Muslim community across the world which was the basis of Islamic teachings. If we devote our intent of sacrifice on true objectives, this would promote mutual harmony, brotherhood and tolerance in our lives.”

Sharif said Eidul Azha is a day of remembrance of the obedience of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and the reverence his son, Hazrat Ismael (AS), who set an extraordinary example of sacrifice and selflessness. He said the real spirit lied in fostering the essence of sacrifice and reverence before Allah Almighty.

The premier prayed, “May Allah Almighty bless the country and nation with real happiness of Eidul Azha and guide us to understand the revered act of sacrifice so that we could follow it in its true spirit.”

He further said, “We should be grateful to Allah Almighty who blessed us with this auspicious occasion yet another time,” and prayed that “may these happy moments come over and over again in our lives”.
