Five killed in road mishaps, electrocution

Five people were killed in separate incidents involving road mishaps, electrocution and fire due to short-circuit in Karachi on Thursday.

Reportedly, Waseem, 28, was fatally wounded in a road accident in Ramaswami area. He was ferried to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Separately, Taha Malik, 30, son of Mubashir Kahlid Malik, died when a speeding vehicle ran over him near Karsaz Bridge. The body was shifted to the JPMC for autopsy.

A woman, Naeema Khatoon, 68, and her brother, Muhammad Aslam, 65, were burnt to death when a fire broke out at their house located near Tipu Sultan Road in the wee hours of Thursday. Rescuers said the incident occurred while the couple was sleeping. The bodies were shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities. Two Fire Brigade vehicles put out the fire.

In another incident, a 45-year-old man, Muhammad Irfan, son of Habib Shah, was electrocuted to death at his home in Anda Morr area of New Karachi. The body was shifted to the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem.
