Eidul Azha was celebrated on Thursday in most of the areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), including North and South Waziristan Agencies.
Eid prayers held in Bannu Jamia mosque were attended by a large number of citizens, including internally displaced persons (IDPs). Special prayers were also offered for the security and progress of the country.
Following Eid prayers, the zealous citizens performed animal sacrifice, an obligatory duty for every well to do Muslim and distributed the meat among relatives, neighbours, deserving and poor.
Meanwhile, like elsewhere in the country the Dawoodi Bohri Jamaat celebrated Eidul Azha with traditional religious reverence and fervor in Karachi as well.
Members of Bohra Jamaat offered Eid prayers in various areas of the city and are offering sacrifices of the animals.
The biggest Eid prayer congregation of Bohra Jamaat was held at Tahiri mosque in Saddar while Eid prayer was also offered at Adam Masjid near City Court; Soldier Bazaar, Hydri and Shabbirabad among many other places.
Special prayers for the progress and prosperity of and peace and security in the country were offered at Eid prayer congregations.
The rest of the cities of Pakistan will be celebrating Eid on Friday. The government has announced four official holidays for the festival from Thursday to Monday.

Muslims in Saudi Arabia, UAE, US and many countries in the world celebrated Eid on Thursday.
At least 3 million pilgrims gathered on Saudi land and offered sacrifice.
In the Saudi capital of Riyadh, Muslims congregated at 666 mosques to offer Eid prayers, while thousands also gathered in open spaces.
Muslims living in Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Iran, Iraq, Middle East, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, London, North America and other European countries also celebrated Eid on Thursday.
