Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed the Cabinet Committee on Flood to monitor the flow of water in rivers round the clock and all necessary measures should be adopted.
The chief minister ordered that protective measures should be completed in advance to cope with the threat of a possible flood. He also instructed the provincial ministers and secretaries to supervise safety arrangements in their allotted districts and in case of a threat of flood, immediate evacuation of local population should be ensured.
Shehbaz also issued instructions for utilisation of all-out resources for the disposal of rainwater from low-lying areas, saying the administration and institutions concerned should work in an active manner.
