Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with British Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street, London on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction on the overall trajectory of the bilateral relations between the two sides and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
Sharif stated that Pakistan and UK enjoy close and cordial relations in diverse fields including trade, commerce, education, security and defence. He also highlighted that the presence of a large number of Pakistanis in the UK, which acted as a bridge between the two countries.
The two leaders also exchanged views on issues of global and regional importance, including the situation in Afghanistan as well as the recent violation across the Line of Control (LoC) by India.
Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have good relations with all its neighbours in line with his vision. He also highlighted Pakistan’s role and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Cameron welcomed Pakistan’s policies for a peaceful neighbourhood and appreciated Pakistan’s role in the fight against militancy and terrorism.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is currently passing through London on his way to New York to attend the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
