Lashkar-e-Jhangvi man nabbed with ammunition, hate material

Police have nabbed an activist from proscribed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi in the Jhangi Syedan area and recovered weapons, ammunition and hate material from his possession.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hussain Lassi, on a tip off, the police arrested Zaheer Muavia near Tarnol in the Noon Police Station jurisdiction.

The accused, who was living in Jhangi Syedan, was trying to shift to some other place to escape from an ongoing search operation, the DSP said.

Police have recovered two Kalashnikovs, 11 magazine, 493 rounds, a 9mm pistol with 98 rounds, and 18 cassettes with hate speeches and songs. Noon Police have registered cases against him.

Lassi informed that the accused was previously imprisoned for four years for murdering a man called Zaheer ul Hassan in 2008, and his cousin is an absconder in the same case.
