Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has ordered for the constitution of an Institution Management Committees for all 67 technical and vocational training institutes of the province.
He also assured that he would withdraw recent amendments in the Universities Act that waived off requirement/condition of domicile for admission in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa universities. He also directed for the establishment of new universities for technical education.
He was presiding over the second meeting of the Board of Directors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) at the CM Secretariat, which approved over Rs 507 million for 12 projects to be launched in different technical education institutes. And another amount of Rs 85.96 million for establishment of TEVTA Secretariat was also approved.
Besides other affairs, the meeting also considered the repair of the training machinery and equipments, the second shift arrangements, rules and regulations of TEVTA, recruitment of instructors for TEVTA institutions and handing over of remaining three institutes to Pakistan Air Force for training purposes and took important decisions to further empower the newly born authority for arranging and imparting quality technical education to the youth of the province in an independent manner.
The board also approved the recruitment of 180 technical education instructors as well as refurbishing of training aids including heavy machinery and equipment etc. and the CM directed to complete the process of hiring for teachers and repair of the machinery within two months.
He stressed that TEVTA must accomplish its prime responsibility for imparting latest technical education and skills in the trades that are required in the international job market adding that the provincial government was even ready to pay for expensive internationally recognised certification for this purpose in the larger interest of the youth of the province.
He directed that measures for ensuring safe and bright careers for the youth of the province, especially those related to poor and down trodden segments of society, should be given top priority.
He asked TEVTA to ensure conversion of all technical and vocational education institutes into model institutions and provide equal standard and facilities therein.
