Badaber attack: Suspected Afghan national arrested in Charsadda

Intelligence agencies and police on Tuesday arrested a suspected Afghan national allegedly involved in the attack on the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) camp in Badaber area of Peshawar.

Identified as Bakhtiar, the suspect was arrested from Pladherai village near the entry point of Charsadda district, said a security official who requested anonymity.

“The man from Afghanistan was living in a rented house,” said the official, adding he was tracked down in connection with Friday’s attack that claimed 29 lives.

The official, however, refused to give any further details owing to sensitivity of the matter.

Following the gruesome attack, a search operation was launched by the Badaber police around the camp, rounding up 28 suspects, including some Afghan refugees.

Also, police and security forces initiated a joint search operation in the Cantt area and PAF airbase in Kohat, arresting another 96 suspects. Weapons, including repeaters, Kalashnikovs, shotguns and pistols were also seized.
