Defunct outfits barred from collecting hides

The Punjab government has barred proscribed outfits and groups involved in spreading sectarian violence from collecting hides of sacrificial animals on Eidul Azha.

Official sources said on Monday that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, all district coordination officers (DCOs) had been asked to strictly follow the official code.

However, a decision regarding allowing religious institutions, philanthropists or individuals to collect animal hides is yet to be taken.

Sources said no seminary would be allowed to set up its camps at any public place or road crossings for collecting animal hides.
