Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s ban on heads of political parties from participating in the by-election campaigns.
The petition stated that the matter is subjudice in the Supreme Court, thus, the ECP can neither issue a new notification nor it can bar any head of the political party from participating in the by-election campaigns.
The objection on Imran Khan’s participation in NA-122 by-election campaigning was also raised by the PML-N on Sunday evening.
In response to the objection, Imran Khan announced that his party would challenge the decision in the LHC.
The PTI maintains that Imran Khan should be allowed to run the by-election campaign since he does not hold any administrative position in the government.
The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has fielded Ayaz Sadiq in the NA-122 by-election, whereas, Aleem Khan is the PTI candidate in the constituency.
The seat was vacated after the election tribunal de-seated NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq due to irregularities in the election.

Re-polling will be held on October 11.
