Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan said on Saturday that the violators of the ban on provocative speeches at mosques would be dealt with as per law.
The minister said the speeches of Ulema fanning sectarianism on the occasion of Eidul Azha would be recorded and monitored through CCTV cameras. He said no vehicle would be allowed to go up to mosques or eidgahs for security purposes.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet’s Sub-Committee on Law and Order at the Civil Secretariat.
Sanaullah said it was the responsibility of local district coordination officers (DCOs) and tehsil municipal officers (TMOs) to install cameras at cattle markets. He also directed that sweeping of mosques and eidgahs should be ensured before Eid prayers.
He said that snipers would be deployed on rooftops of sensitive buildings and no comprise would be made on security of important personalities during Eid prayers. He said secret agencies should remain in close contact with law enforcement agencies.
The minister said that strict checking of all entry and exit routes to the city would be ensured. He also ordered that foolproof security arrangements should be made at Eid bazaars, shopping malls, hotels, food outlets and all historical places. He said strict implementation of the ban on collection of hides by banned organisations would also be ensured.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool, the Punjab chief secretary, IG Punjab, CCPO Lahore, Additional IG CTD Rai Tahir and others.
