6 Afghans detained near Sargodha airbase; 68 suspects arrested in Peshawar

Police and law enforcement personnel carried out a search operation in areas surrounding the Sargodha airbase on Sunday and detained eight suspects, including six Afghan nationals.

According to police, law enforcers conducted the search operation and carried out a door-to-door search in areas adjacent to the airbase.
The eight suspects, including six Afghan nationals, detained during the operation were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation. Police from five different stations took part in the search operation, officials said.

Meanwhile, police and security forces detained 68 suspects as they carried out multiple joint operations on the outskirts of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A large amount of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the suspects.

According to KP police officials, the operations were carried out in Mithra and Nasir Bagh areas where door-to-door search was carried out with the help of policewomen. 68 suspected individuals were detained during the search which also included an Afghan national.

Five pistols, three rifles, two machine-guns, and a large amount of ammunition was also recovered from the suspects, who were shifted to the concerned police stations.

The search operations in Peshawar and Sargodha come two days after terrorists launched an attack on a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) base in Peshawar’s suburbs, martyring 29 people including 16 worshipers offering prayers at a mosque. All 14 terrorists were also killed by security forces.
