Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amin Vains said on Sunday about 10,000 policemen would perform duty on Eidul Azha while an additional force would be deputed for security of mosques and Eid congregations at open places.
Chairing a meeting regarding arrangements for Eid, Muharramul Harram and local body elections at the Police Lines, the CCPO said search operations were being conducted on a daily basis to weed out criminals.
He said that display of weapons would be strictly prohibited during the local body elections, adding security at all entry and exit points to the city had been heightened after the Badaber airbase attack in Peshawar.
The CCPO said Eidul Azha prayer would be offered at 3,599 places in the city where foolproof security would be provided. He directed all superintendents of police (SPs) and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) to supervise search operations on a daily basis and ensure checking through bio-metric machines.
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG Investigations Ch Sultan, SP CIA Umer Virk and other senior officials were also present during the meeting.
