Six more gunned down in Karachi

At least six people were killed and four others wounded in separate incidents of violence on Friday, police officials said.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Tanveer Alam, unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate firing in Korangi area, killing three people and wounding others. The victims were identified as Khameeso Malah, Fazal and Sawan. The injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment. The culprits managed to escape from the crime scene, however. The reason behind the firing could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.

Separately, unidentified gunmen shot dead a 25-year-old man in Garden area near Albela Signal. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy. The victim could not be identified until the filing of this report.

In another incident, Imran, 30, son of Muhammad Afzal, a resident of North Karachi’s Sector 5-F, was shot and wounded by unidentified armed men in Two-Minute Chowrangi area of North Karachi. He was taken to the Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Another person was gunned down by unidentified armed men near Sakhi Hassan area. Police have registered a case and investigation is in progress.

Separately, a shopkeeper was gunned down in a suspected sectarian attack in North Nazimabad area. Identified as Syed Irfan Zaidi, the victim was heading somewhere on his motorcycle after closing his shop when a bike-borne duo attacked him. Deputy Inspector General for Karachi-West, Feroze Shah, said it was a targeted attack.
