Newly-appointed managing director of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Uzma Adil has reportedly refused to endorse the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) deal that had resulted in the sacking and then subsequent resignation of her predecessor Arif Hameed, a private news channel reported on Friday.
Earlier, SNGPL former MD Arif Hameed had tendered his resignation following a tiff with Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who wanted SNGPL to take charge of the LNG deal with Qatar. Hameed had said that he was being pressured to sign the LNG agreement without the approval of the board of directors. “I had refused to carry out this illegal action,” he had said at the time.
Now it seems that the new MD has gone ahead and refused the same deal. When she joined the organization, Adil had asserted that she would work to her best abilities and ensure the betterment of the company. She had said that projects would be completed on an emergency basis and said that works will be done at the regional level to resolve the problems being faced by consumers.
