Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani on Friday remarked during hearing of a billboards case in Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry that female models who endorse products cause road accidents.
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Defense Housing Authority (DHA) and Sindh Police have submitted reports regarding illegal hoardings.
The departments have claimed in their reports that all illegal billboards have been cleared from their respective premises. Justice Usmani said that billboards do not stay erect during storms and gusts of wind, causing loss of innocent lives.
He also said that advertising companies are pocketing millions of rupees through hoardings.
The court adjourned the hearing until September 21.
