Adviser to the Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz has stressed that the Government of Pakistan desires to maintain good relations with all its neighbours including India and Afghanistan.
Sartaj Aziz was talking to the eight-member delegation of the German Press and Journalist’s Association at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The adviser briefed the journalists on the country’s foreign policy objectives and the prime minister’s vision for a peaceful neighbourhood. He dilated upon Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and the National Action Plan (NAP).
Commenting on relations with Germany, he stated that it was a strong relationship with great potential.
The adviser stated that the Government of Pakistan seeks more trade and not aid. Pakistan offered excellent investment opportunities to foreign investors. He also highlighted Pakistan’s democratic credentials and various measures taken by the Government to ensure good governance and fiscal discipline.
The visiting journalists appreciated Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and its desire to maintain good relations with all its neighbours. They also commended the freedom of the media as well as the transparent policies of the government.
