Quantico isn’t due to release in to US until September 27, but ABC has already released the first 8 minutes of the pilot episode. In it, we are taken through a brief background of Priyanka Chopra (and other fellow FBI recruits) and how they reach their training base in Virgina.
Presumably this is a promotional feature, in order to get us curious/excited about the show. The teaser starts with a very brief intro into Alex’s (Priyanka Chopra) life, which she leaves behind to join the FBI. Thankfully, no efforts have been made to make her look outwardly Indian, or to beautify her by making her unnaturally white (we’re looking at you, Bollywood).
The teaser also follows other fellow recruits (look out for an adorable but seemingly pointless kiss between two male recruits) while they are on their way to training, and Alex’s hook up sesh with a random guy she meets on the airplane. Possibly a reinforcement of the fact that Alex is a modern, independent girl, we’re guessing.
The introductory 8 minutes are quite telling of how the show may pan out. It’s tightly edited, Priyanka as Alex is impressively sassy, as one would assume an FBI recruit should be.
The teaser ends at a cliffhanger, where Alex finds herself (in the future) unconscious and stuck in the middle of rubble. Full marks for piquing our curiousity.
The full episode will be broadcast on ABC on September 27. Chopra has said that Indian audiences will be able to watch the show “almost immediately after it’s US airing”.
