The Election Commission of Pakistan has given a clean-chit to the relief package for farmers announced by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
In a statement, the Commission rejected objections raised by a section of society on the package in the wake of local government elections. It said the relief package was for the whole country and not reserved for Sindh and Punjab provinces, where the local bodies polls are scheduled to take place from next month.
The statement said however, arbitrary development funds for Parliamentarians would remain frozen till conclusion of local government elections.
