COAS arrives in Peshawar

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif arrived in Peshawar following the attack on Pakistan Airforce Camp (PAF) in Peshawar’s Badaber area.

DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa tweeted that the COAS will visit the Corps Headquarters and meet with troops participating in the clearance operation.  He will also see all wounded being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

Army Captain Asfandyar and 16 people offering their prayers were martyred during the attack.

DG ISPR said terrorists entered camp at two points and further split into sub groups. He added that the encounter began immediately due to quick response and 13 terrorists were killed.

The DG ISPR said a clearance operation was underway being led by the Peshawar Brigade Commander with Quick Response Force, Army commandos, local PAF troops and police present outside the base in an outer cordon. The military spokesman later said that the Peshawar Corps Commander was also on the ground overseeing operations.
